The 2024 EnterpriseAM Finance Forum is the second edition of our flagship event.

The Forum is part of our must-attend series of invitation-only, C-suite-level gatherings where senior members of our community can openly and frankly discuss critical issues in key sectors of the economy and focus on the future of the finance and banking industries domestically.

EnterpriseAM Finance Forum is proudly supported by:

WHY ATTEND?

The nation’s finance industry is at a turning point.

Six months after the float of the EGP, we are on the right side of a protracted FX crunch that had the business community and Planet Finance alike in a chokehold.

We’re in the early days of a generational realignment of power not just in our region, but in the global finance industry.

The UAE has for more than a decade been the unquestioned epicenter of finance in the Mideast.

Saudi Arabia is aggressively entering the finance arena, offering huge investments and incentives — with some strings attached

Egypt must define its role in this evolving landscape and leverage finance for export-led growth.

We’re going to dive deep into the questions keeping bankers and finance players awake at night:

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Everyone who plays a role in our industry:

Commercial bankers
Investment bankers
Asset managers
Fintech founders
Professional services providers
NBFS leaders

Attendees at our events areC-suite officers, business owners, and their direct reports; we also make an allocation for folks we think could be tomorrow’s founders and c-suite executives.

09:05 - 09:35

Keynote interview with Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Hassan El Khatib: What's next?

Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Hassan El Khatib’s challenge is clear: To attract foreign direct investment to Egypt — and to help rebuild confidence among the leaders of the domestic business community. The minister joins us on stage to unpack where we go from here with a new cabinet and new economic team in place. We’ll talk about his investment-promotion strategy. His plans for how to make it easier to do business. What it means when we say we want to see a private-sector-led economy. Whether the government will choose priority sectors — and if so, how it’s picking them. And more.

In discussion with: Patrick FitzPatrick, Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief, The Enterprise Company

09:35 - 10:10

Welcome to the hot seat

Three top industry CEOs address the biggest question of the day, from expectations of dealflow through 2025 to consolidation in the industry, regulation, credit quality, the FX market, how we’re really using AI after 12 months of hype, and what’s up in both venture capital and the non-bank financial services industry.

Looking from the outside in

We look at what’s driving interest in Egypt today as an investment opportunity — in finance, infrastructure, and beyond. Our panelists also sit at a nexus of dealflow, giving us unique insights into what international players are looking for in the wider economy. Gazing into that crystal ball

Just in time for your 2025 planning season, we ask three industry leaders their expectations on everything from M&A, IPO, and debt flows to the FX rate they think we should be using in 2025 and key pieces of legislation and regulation now in the pipeline. Plus: When are we going to see investors moving their money back into public equities?

Break

11:40 - 12:15

One asset class to rule them all?

Traditional asset management is moribund as an industry in Egypt — it’s real estate or nothing. Whether or not you buy into the notion of a (perennially impending) bubble in the industry, we’ll get into the ins and outs of real estate as an asset class, the structure of finance in the sector, the construction outlook, which areas are “next,” price dynamics, and more.

Participants

Ayman Amer, General Manager, SODIC

Dasha Badrawi, Executive Vice-Chairman, MARAKEZ

Ibrahim El Missiry, CEO, Somabay

In discussion with: Salma El Saeed, Group Editor - EnterpriseAM KSA, Enterprise News and Luca Castradori, Director of Investor Relations, Enterprise Advisory

12:15 - 12:45

The Energy Economy

We’ll look beyond a short-term energy crunch and ask about Egypt’s long-term prospects as the Mediterranean’s premier energy hub, from green electricity to hydrogen and beyond. Where is the opportunity for bankers, investors, and advisors? What are the prospects of a domestic manufacturing industry serving the national industry — and regional export markets? We’ll also ask about who’s investing, what’s the state of play in arrears, and more.

Participants

Dalia Wahba, CEO, Hassan Allam Utilities

Lamyaa Gadelhak, Partner, Baker McKenzie

Nayer Fouad, Co-Founder and CEO, Infinity

The NBFI finance panel

The resilience of the Egyptian consumer in the face of incredibly high inflation is the unsung business story of our age. What’s driving that resilience? Are banks and NBFS players building sustainable businesses? What patterns are we seeing — and what worries should we be keeping an eye on? And what about credit quality and new opportunities in the B2B space, from leasing to factoring?

Mounir Nakhla, Founder and CEO, MNT-Halan

Walid Hassouna, CEO, Valu

In discussion with: Salma El Saeed, Group Editor - EnterpriseAM KSA, Enterprise News and Salma Ahmed, Managing Editor - EnterpriseAM Egypt, Enterprise News

Do we really love banking SMEs?

Few institutions have cracked the code of how to bank SMEs. A decade ago, the banking community saw them as largely unbankable — arguing there was too much risk and too little profit to make small- and medium-sized businesses bankable using traditional corporate lending methods. The Central Bank of Egypt’s SME lending mandate helped change the game, and today the rise of non-bank financial institutions and fintechs is changing the sector. We’ll look at the current structure of the market, the opportunity going forward, how institutions are using technology not just to grow their businesses, but to mitigate risk — and more.

Participants

Ahmed Ali Abdelrahman, Managing Director and CEO, Post for Investment

Chantal Sabbagh, General Manager, Business Development for SMEs, National Bank of Egypt

Hatem Samir, Founder, Group CEO and MD, GlobalCorp

In discussion with: Hadia Mostafa, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, The Enterprise Company
